How to Check No Deposit Bonus Terms Before You Claim

A no-deposit offer does not require an initial payment to receive the promotion. It does not mean that the offer has no conditions or that any displayed bonus can immediately be withdrawn as cash. Before claiming, identify the operator, open the offer-specific rules and save the version you relied on.

This checklist explains what to look for without assuming that every casino uses the same rules. The exact promotion, account and jurisdiction determine which terms apply.

Confirm the operator and licence first

Start with the legal business behind the website, not just the brand name. If a site says it is licensed to serve consumers in Great Britain, compare the company and exact website domain with the Gambling Commission public register. A licence held by a related company or for another website is not enough by itself.

The Gambling Commission requires its licensees’ consumer terms to be fair and transparent and to make them available in an easily accessible way. Those requirements do not automatically govern an overseas-only operator. If the site is not licensed for Great Britain, establish which regulator and complaint system actually apply before relying on the offer.

Find the significant conditions before you opt in

The CAP guidance on promotional terms, updated on 28 August 2026, says significant conditions that could affect a person’s decision to participate should be clear and prominent in the initial promotion. Other terms should be signposted and easy to access.

Check the advert, landing page and full terms together. Look for:

  • who can participate, including age, location and account-status restrictions;
  • the start and closing dates;
  • whether a code, opt-in button or other action is required;
  • what the offer provides and when it is credited;
  • any limit on the number of eligible participants or available rewards; and
  • a direct route to the complete promotion terms.

Do not assume that a headline contains every condition. If an important rule appears only after registration, ask support for the applicable terms in writing before claiming.

Translate the wagering requirement into a number

A wagering requirement states how much qualifying play must be completed before promotion-related funds can become withdrawable. Read what the multiplier applies to: the bonus, winnings from free spins, or another amount defined by the offer.

For an illustration only, if a promotion credits £10 and states a 30-times requirement on that £10, the stated wagering amount would be:

£10 × 30 = £300

That calculation is not a claim about any particular offer. Use the figures and definitions in the promotion you are considering. If the wording does not identify the base amount, seek clarification before opting in.

Check which games and bets qualify

The full terms should explain whether all games count towards the requirement and whether different games contribute differently. Read the offer-specific wording rather than relying on a general casino help page.

Record:

  • the eligible and excluded games;
  • how each eligible game contributes;
  • whether live games, table games or particular slots are excluded;
  • whether there is a maximum permitted stake while the offer is active; and
  • what happens if a non-qualifying game or stake is used.

Do not infer contribution rates or stake limits from another promotion. They can differ between offers on the same website.

Read the expiry and withdrawal rules

Check when the promotion must be activated, when credited funds expire and when any wagering must be completed. Note the time zone used for a deadline. Also identify any maximum conversion or withdrawal amount stated for the promotion.

Read how the site treats the cash balance and promotion balance, including which balance is used first and whether making a withdrawal cancels the remaining offer. These are questions for the actual terms; they are not universal rules.

Check identity and account requirements

Eligibility language may refer to a new account, one promotion per person or household, location checks, or successful identity verification. Compare those conditions with the registration details you can truthfully provide.

Never create another identity or use inaccurate personal information to try to satisfy a restriction. If a condition is unclear, ask the operator to explain it before you claim. Keep the response with the offer records.

Save evidence of the terms you accepted

Web pages can change. Before opting in, keep a dated copy or screenshots showing:

  • the offer headline and significant conditions;
  • the complete terms and their update date or version, if shown;
  • the website address and legal operator named on the page;
  • any opt-in confirmation, code or account message; and
  • any written clarification from support.

Avoid including passwords, complete payment-card details or other unnecessary sensitive information in screenshots.

If the promotion is disputed

For a Gambling Commission-licensed business, raise the issue with the operator first and follow its published complaints process. The Commission’s complaints guidance recommends setting out dates, amounts and the evidence supporting the complaint. If the operator’s process is exhausted or eight weeks pass without resolution, the matter may be eligible for an approved alternative dispute resolution provider.

An overseas-only regulator may use a different route, timetable or remedy. Confirm the applicable system rather than assuming that the Great Britain process covers the site.

  • Calculate the stated wagering amount from the correct base.
  • Check eligible games, contribution rules and stake limits.
  • Note activation, expiry, conversion and withdrawal restrictions.
  • Confirm account, location and identity requirements.
  • Save the terms and any support clarification before opting in.
